a word = several grains of rice for a starving people. when you disconnect this from all other things, it has potential. knowledge will save the world. knowledge of god and christ drives us to seek such earthly knowledge as words, to save the world. love? so the definition says: a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person. with this word i have won several more grains of rice. but i don’t think i was right. god: the one supreme being, the creator and ruler of the universe. …just this one phrase means so little to anyone who lives in absence of god. (of course, mahout also means keeper of an elephant, which changes the impression of the word altogether.) the point is, one word, several grains of rice. i will not forget this, especially with the picture up on the screen, which constantly reiterates how many grains of rice i have won for the starving people. but words are a powerful thing…earthly knowledge, that is. what is hard not to lose is the meaning, the meaning of love and god. my love for god, through which i obtain my love for others.
